Now I think you might be holding back on an opinion here. Tell us how you really feel about vista.
What Id love to know is why has Vista picked up this perceived negative image. Admittedly there is no added value to the enterprise to add Vista to the desktop mix and its not extending or improving enterprise management. I imagine that an upgrade to Server 2008 which adds some mystery sauce that make Vista preferable to XP will encourage most sysadmins to consider a Vista roll out. Failing that why dont they shove a free toy in every box ?
I think it picked up a negative image earler on because:
(i) it was too different to XP - why does one have to re-learn a Windows OS! (ii) It was too intrusive (iii) It was too inefficient As you say though, the main issue is that it does not actually add enough value to the enterprise's desktop ecosystem to justify switchover. They may be better of shipping free Vista with every toy |
