For me the big thing has got to be web 2.0 moving beyond media to other areas e.g. education, health, politics, manufacturing, B2B etc
I think the whole problem with web 2.0 at the moment is that it is still too focused on entertainment type apps.
If you look at the original Web 2.0. it had quite a lot of non-media implications - but it goot hijacked as a term for "presentation layer" stuff over the last few years, esp SocMed.
