All the anti-corporate stuff from users of free services just makes me laugh. This is a great quote from the BBC post you linked to:

Nic, I was likewise amused by the sturm und drang, and it will be interesting to see just how many people take their photos and go elsewhere
![]() To me the really interesting outcomes are (i) the emotional ownership people feel about "their" social media (especially the "high status" early ins here) as you have noted on your site, and (ii) Yahoo is definitely diluting a service that beat theirs before they bought it, what happens in the medium term - does another upstart take over, or does Flickr have critical mass? |
