While the Sunday Times article is a bit more evocative in it's subject matter, I find the Guardian one Much more annoying. It makes two points, one based on a misunderstanding of push and pull, and one which I would hope most people would guess.
They both look to me to be very much box-ticking - Twitter is going mainstream so they need to have something about it every day, no matter how light, and if it can get a few retweets then all the better.
Expect more mainsteam journos who have never used it to take an "angle". Doesn't mean they are totally wrong though, the harrumphing crowd seemed unable to admit their narcissistic, insecure and vapid sides - now why is that I wonder
