Nice! And bonus points for 'Tsunami of Twaddle'
What they've done is very much like what Pownce wanted to be. (again, copying Twitter and adding more 'stuff') Of course none of this has any relation to the fact that I just added easy ways to share Phreadz posts to Facebook and Friendfeed
almost true. It is not twitter that facebook is copying, it is FriendFeed which is by far the superior application.
We use twitter because that's where the people are, not because we love the 140 char limit or pathetic lack of conversation support. Facebook has the people and now actually building a usable application where twitter continues to stagnate. I think they are getting it right just fine.
Yes, that's why Facebook tried to buy FriendFeed this week, right? Oh, wait, that was Twitter they wanted!
you are prob right & most of what fb announced yesterday would have been accomplished for the most part if they bought twitter -- but at the end of the day, everyone is on facebook (and they come back every-single-day) where twitter is not....
at the end if the day twitter will get bought (think google, msft, etc) - while facebook will prob not.... what does that say in the terms of a feature vs a business?
Translation: broadstuff thinks that Twitter is from heaven and Facebook from hell... Neither of which are true.
I think the comparisons with Friendfeed is apt, in that imho they have made the same errors - see my update on the blogpost.
@encosion - my view is more darwinian than religious, in that I think Facebook's social graph model has been shown to be the wrong way to go and Twitter's is right. Which will win eventually - I don't know, all I'm pointing out here is that Facebook has shifted off its path to follow Twitter's. But big, fast followers have succeeded many times in the past. |
