If you weren't interested in Question Time though, the #bbcqt tag was an absolute menace, clogging up your tweetstream like dead leaves in a moat. Of course this was because it was so successful and stimulating to the people using it - and this 'spontaneous chatroom' function of Twitter will keep on growing and growing (beware Eurovision!). Some smart app developer - or Twitter itself - could do well creating a "block hashtag" function for instant topic filtering.
@Tom - I absolutely agree - "block" functions are common in the chatroom sytems of yore, I suspect Twitter will evolve same.
Th real lesson to me from Twitter is that you could have built systems with this stuff in - many did - but then its too complex at 1st sight and scares people. Twitter is evolving functionality with its users, like email did. 5 years from now of course Twitter will just be another email ![]() |
