agree, watching the tweets adds a depth to any programme these days. Its a gift. Seems like the ether is rising up instead of street marches we do it from home...
... the downside is it brings out the headbangers sometimes. But. As you say, it is as well to know their opinions too, all's fair in love and democracy.
Did you follow it on Twitter though Alan? I started to, but with twenty five thousand new posts between refreshes, most of them saying the same thing, I gave up on it and sat back and took the show in. I wish I hadn't actually as it was far more horrific with my attention focused on the telly! So my on topic comment would be that maybe the novelty of twittering through TV will wear-off unless there are better ways of managing it. And my off-topic comment is that I found QT really upsetting. I think extremists always rise to prominence during times of economic stress and while the politicians are all too keen to blame immigration policy and and mistrust of politicians for the rise of the BNP it's obvious they screwed up the economy, increased the gap between rich and poor, made people feel powerless, and the result is Nick Griffin on Question Time downplaying the Holocaust.
richard, did you not think this was far and away question time, more a griffin witchhunt.nobody challenged the corrupt labour government, represented by cowardly j.straw, when he brought morals into the equation. re. expenses, re. referanda , and all the lies he and his leader have propgated over the last 12 years.
I don't know Davy. The whole thing made me feel so gloomy I think I need to stop thinking about it for a bit! He's an extremist and having him on the panel was bound to distort the discussion. They could have tried harder, perhaps, to have a 'normal' QT debate, but I'm not sure it would have happened.
Regarding challenging the Government. Unfortunately the opposition, and especially the Tories, are complicit. I doubt the quality of both, and that's one of the reasons the BNP have become electable. |
