I particularly like the resonant echo between 'brain cycles' and sun cycles
"*being a qualified engineer I've not only studied (a lot of) maths, but physics, chemistry and thermodynamics as well.... not that many pundits feel the need to be constrained by these things in this debate!"
I'm a qualified scientist, and have studied (a lot) of maths, chemisty, physics, etc, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable making a judgement without studying the data and the relavent literature. This is the first I've heard of this incident, by the way. It's a pretty unfortunate PR incident, assuming it's all true. I know how easy it is to present your data in a way that make supports your point of view, although it is usually possible to spot such cases. I don't think it invalidates the consensus view - that global warming is a man made phenomenom. From what I understand, most of the nay-sayers haven't published any theories to support their claims.
@John: Didnt see that
@Dave - My point is that the data don't point to one thing or the other - in fact its lost in the noise of good old Gaia doing her thing However, this leak shows the "consensus view" may have been manipulated rather than arrived at by free and fair information exchange. |
