Went to the
Chinwag Big Summer thingy last night, very good indeed ( a traditional British Summer bash, threatened to rain throughout and cold and windy outside) but its amazing the social networking that free beer brings
There was even a
parallel session in
Second Life would you believe....(or is that just sad, 21st century style ?)
(There were huge queues for the bar all night, but it was very good humoured and met a lot of great people that way).
Congrats team, great fun......
Anyway, this morning had a quick nose at Technorati to see who had written on the event and got....*this*
1,174 blog posts about chinwag
Whaaat...what had I missed...yeah, I know Chinwag was great, but really....
Then I started to read...and they are nearly all fr****ng one liners from Twitter.
And worse, the river of random drivel has no wisdom of crowds effect...Hugh McLeod didn't go
'cos his spies told him it was a zoo - which it wasn't
(Yes, you can even link to a Twitter post....what is the world coming to)
How the heck can anyone think that a one liner from what is basically an IM service is the same as a beautifully crafted, well thought out blog post (like this one

), or that this river of drivel qualifies as content that is worth actually linking to?
(My favourite twitter of the night however was
this one*)
I think we've finally reached the end of the information revolution..............
...and you can't even put a "-twitter" or similar on the technorati search to remove these irritating twitterings (Hmmm.....will have to write a Twitter killer)
OH...and by the way...this post goes out on Twitter in case you were wondering....
*Postscript...look like its been deleted now, but its still on Technorati....the joy of our digital footprints eh
