So the Government will check to see if WiFi is a health hazard,
according to the Beeb.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced it will carry out "systematic" research into how wireless networks are being used.
The research will aim to establish average exposure to the low level radiation emitted by wi-fi access points and wireless links on computers.
The HPA said it expected the results of the research to be "reassuring".
I'm not surprised...the energy levels of WiFi are about that of TV or radio signals, and no one's died yet of TV radiation. Irritation with programming yes, boredom maybe, but radiation? Or at any rate, as a species we have decided that the benefit of TV is greater than the casualty rates from TV radiation, I don't think I've ever heard of a "stop TV radiation" campaign, even for satellite. (Hmmm...with reality TV is it maybe time to rethink that

)
Some wags have suggested that the Mobile industry is trying anything to get WiFi stopped. Couldn't possibly be true, surely

...... but even if that scurrilous assertion is true (which we doubt), in this case its a case of beware of what you wish for, as if WiFi is considered even vaguely hazardous then people will definitely be wanting to remove the mobile cell towers as WiFi energy output is less than 3G mobile cells, or the phone receivers for that matter. (The Health Protection Agency says a person sitting within a Wi-Fi hotspot for a year receives the same dose of radio waves as a person using a mobile phone for 20 minutes)
I personally hope it is all banned, because then I would have an excuse to run cables all over the house, stop taking work calls on my mobile at 11pm and to not have TV for the kids
