Location is an auxiliary piece of data, not the justification for YASN!
I look forward to a SMS/Twitter + location mashup (and there are several other mashup scenarios where location might be interesting). But to try and launch YASN on the back of a feature nobody uses yet - well, strategically, that's fairly cocky (or just plain stupid). The Google Maps app on my Symbian phone does a fairly good localisation job using mobile mast triangulation, do these really need GPS, as you ascerted? Triangulation certainly isn't pinpoint, and I wouldn't be able to tell which part of the pub a mate is sitting in
I think your 1st comment is spot on, its something that the network should expose for mashing into many services - will quote that in the main post, Phil!
